The German brav is a false friend which does not mean brave but good in the sense of well-behaved. So the phrase Wenn du brav bist, bekommst du ein Eis can be translated as If you're good, you'll get an ice-cream.
The English word brave in the sense of courageous corresponds to the German tapfer, so brave soldiers would be tapfere Soldaten.
