On New Year's Eve in Spain it is traditional to eat twelve grapes, one for each of the chimes of midnight. It is thought that this brings good luck for the coming year. The chimes are broadcast live from the clock at the Puerta del Sol in Madrid, where huge crowds congregate to see in the New Year.
